Frequently Asked Questions

Q: May I buy TICKETS AT THE DOOR?

A: IF tickets are available, of course! You can pay with Cash, Check or Credit Card at the door. Seating is limited, so it is advisable to purchase tickets in advance. And only tickets for that evening’s performance will be available at the door.

Q: Are CHAIRS provided?

A: Yes. We provide ASSIGNED SEATS in chairs pre-set for you. Do not bring your own into the seating area of the stage. There will be seating spaces provided for those in wheelchairs.

Q: Can we bring ALCOHOL?

A: For the Livermore Shakespeare Festival, due to state laws, only alcohol bearing the label of the winery can be consumed on the winery property (no beer, etc.). Please do not bring alcohol to the Bothwell Arts Center.

Q: How is the PARKING?

A: Concannon Vineyard has a large paved parking lot available for patrons. There are Handicapped-Placard spaces right in front of the tasting room. There is a gravel parking area close to the entrance gate for late-comers.

The Bothwell Arts Center has parking all around the square block that houses the arts center. Please park there instead of in front of the houses directly across from the building.

Q: Is it suitable for YOUNG AUDIENCES?

A: Ages 9 and up for Hamlet and The Merry Wives of Windsor. NO BABES-in-ARMS; no children under the age of 5 admitted.  There is bawdy humor in all of Shakespeare plays, but it’s in Elizabethan innuendo, so the kids don’t usually get it.

Q: Can I EAT at the play?

A: Concannon has a large grass covered picnic area for our patrons to use. Feel free to bring a picnic dinner to enjoy before the show. Picnic area opens at 5:30 pm. Limited seating is available in the picnic area, but you may bring blankets or lawn chairs of your own to use.

Concannon Vineyard will also sell wine and non-alcoholic beverages, artisan cheese and other snacks in the tasting room. The Underdog Wine Bar offers terrace and indoor seating, as well as ‘grab-and-go’ box dinners. Food and drink are indeed allowed in the theater area, but the house does not open until 7pm. For more information about The Underdog Wine Bar call (925) 583-1581.

Q: Is there a DRESS CODE?

A: It’s “California Casual”for most of us.  Shirt and shoes required, but you don’t have to dress up.

Livermore Shakespeare Festival is an outdoor event, so dress accordingly for the temperatures. Toss a jacket in the car, bring a sun visor.
