Internships

Become a High School Intern

Summer Season 2019

July 3 – August 4, 2019

u
WHO: Livermore Shakespeare Festival is seeking High School Interns!
u

WHAT: William Shakespeare’s Othello and/or The Complete Works of William Shakespeare (abridged)[revised] by Adam Long, Daniel Singer & Jess Winfield

To be considered an official intern, the student must be available for approximately 12 hours per week, (3 rehearsals or work calls each week) though some of that time can be concentrated on tech and opening weeks, and interns do not have to work in all areas. Some interns may choose to participate to a greater degree if summer work and family vacations allow for it. Future actors and directors can request time in the rehearsal room. Future designers, production managers, and technicians can concentrate more of their time in production. Acting interns can audition for small roles in the productions, but only if they are available for all technical, dress and performance dates for the show.

The internships are volunteer (unpaid) positions. Interns gain work experience in professional theater assisting with set & stage load in and strike, crew positions, production assistants in rehearsal, and assisting with some marketing such as handing out flyers at Farmer’s Market or putting up posters downtown. Front of house duties can include ushering, customer service, or selling raffle tickets. The diligent intern can get a peek at all areas of professional theater.

A variety of free acting workshops in auditions, text work, and other areas will be offered to all college apprentices and high school interns.

u

WHERE: Rehearsals are indoors for the most part. Performances and tech are outdoors at the beautiful Wente Estate Vineyard, 5565 Tesla Road, Livermore.

u

WHEN: Start date is May 29th, though students can begin their internship after school ends. The internship ends Tuesday August 6th. (Performances end August 4th. The last two days are for strike and clean-up. Interns are required for at least the first day of strike, Monday, Aug. 5th.)
