Meet the LSF Staff

Lisa A. Tromovitch

Founding Artistic Director

Lisa is the founding Artistic Director of Livermore Shakespeare Festival and a tenured professor in Media X at University of the Pacific. She has over 50 professional directing credits in six states. She began her career at The Old Globe Theater where she assisted directors Jack O’Brien, Tom Moore and the late John Houseman in the rehearsal room and Bob Berlinger in the Play Discovery Program. She is a Backstage West Garland Award and Indy Award winner for her direction of Amadeus at PCPA TheatreFest. Most recently she directed The Winter’s Tale, The Tempest, and her own adaptation of Cyrano de Bergerac for LSF, and Ecce Homo (a play about 2 performance capture artists) at University of the Pacific. Lisa was awarded a 2010 Innovation Award for “Risktakers and Dreammakers” hosted by the Livermore Chamber of Commerce. Immediate Past President, Shakespeare Theatre Association, the international member organization for Shakespeare producers worldwide. Member, Actors Equity, Theatre Bay Area. MFA, Southern Methodist University; BA magna cum laude, Dartmouth College; Phi Beta Kappa.

Katie Marcel

Managing Director

Katie was treasurer of the founding board of directors for Livermore Shakespeare Festival for 3 years. In 2009, she became the company’s Administrative Director and then full-time Managing Director in 2014. She was formerly employed by Livermore Downtown Inc. as the Assistant Director, spending six years assisting the downtown’s renaissance. Marcel also served as one of the original members of the City of Livermore’s Commission for the Arts. In addition to her non-profit experience, she managed a bi-coastal talent management company and performed as a cabaret singer and actress in New York City. BA, Santa Clara University. Katie lives in  Livermore with her husband, Russ, and daughters, Zoe and Stella.

Deborah Lagin

Program Manager

Deborah Lagin loves working for Livermore Shakespeare Festival. She was seen recently on the LSF stage as Cecily in The Importance of Being Earnest, Hermia in A Midsummer Night’s Dream and in Persuasion and The Tempest. She graduated from University of California at Irvine with a Bachelor’s in Drama and a minor in Comparative Literature. Among her favorite roles at UC Irvine were Thomasina in Arcadia, Miranda in The Tempest, and Tillie in Effect Gamma Rays of Man in the Moon Marigolds. She served as an Acting Intern at Marin Shakespeare Company and appeared as Young Elizabeth in Richard III. Deborah also went to Shakespeare and Company in Lenox, Massachusetts for their conservatory program, where she had the honor to perform as Juliet in Romeo and Juliet.

Laura Batti

Graphic Designer

Laura is a graphic designer and co-owner of Métier Marketing Communications, Inc. She has extensive experience in all forms of marketing identity and graphic design. Laura has worked with Shakespeare’s Associates since it’s inception, designing the logos, website and LSF programs. You can see more of her work at www.metiermc.com.
